for the role of Fuel Systems - Controls & Diagnostics Engineer in

Job Description
This role
focuses on tailoring electronic systems for Cummins products. Engineers in this
position will work on configuring, integrating, testing, and releasing
software, electronic control units (ECUs), sensors, actuators, and other
components to create a seamless control system for various customer
applications.
You will
be involved in troubleshooting electronic applications, identifying root causes
of issues, and working on solutions under the guidance of senior engineers. The
role also requires engaging with product and software development teams to
deliver well-calibrated software features and optimized electronic systems.
Key
Responsibilities
·
Electronic Systems Design: Configure and integrate electronic hardware
and interconnections for Cummins products.
·
System Optimization: Combine various sub-systems to achieve
optimal performance, reliability, and quality. Troubleshoot technical issues
using problem-solving techniques.
·
Failure Mode Avoidance: Identify and mitigate potential product
failure modes, focusing on improving product reliability.
·
Modeling and Simulation: Utilize computational tools and simulations
(e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) to predict and enhance product performance.
·
Product Validation: Develop validation plans to identify and
manage product risks, validate requirements, and ensure reliable system
functionality.
·
Requirements Engineering: Translate stakeholder needs into clear,
verifiable system requirements and track them throughout the lifecycle of the
project.
·
Collaboration: Work closely with team members, product
teams, and other departments to meet project objectives.
·
Problem Solving: Address and resolve product issues, ensuring
robust, data-based solutions to prevent recurrence.
Skills and Competencies
·
Design & Application of Mechatronic
Systems: Specify
electronic hardware and manage system interconnections.
·
Machine Integration: Apply standard tools and practices to
optimize system performance.
·
System Requirements Engineering: Analyze and translate needs into
requirements, manage scope, and maintain documentation.
·
Product Problem Solving: Identify root causes, develop solutions, and
document results.
·
Product Verification & Validation: Create plans to test and verify system
capabilities, assessing potential risks.
·
Systems Thinking: Understand the interaction between system
elements to predict behavior and devise solutions.
·
Communication & Collaboration: Develop clear communication strategies for
various audiences and work well in a team environment.
·
Decision Quality: Make informed decisions that contribute to
the progress of projects.
Required Qualifications
·
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a
related STEM field. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline may be required
for specific roles.
·
Experience:
o Prior
entry-level experience in engineering or a related field is required.
o Familiarity
with classical and modern control theory.
o Experience
with simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink for algorithm design.
o Hands-on
experience with mechanical, electrical, and software issues on electronics
benches or engine test environments.
o Experience
in engine or component tuning is preferred.
o Familiarity
with MIL, HIL, and bench testing is an added advantage.
o Knowledge
of alternative fuels is a plus.
