Job Role: Machine Learning Engineer
Location: Remote (Work From Home)
Position: Full-time, Entry-level
Key Responsibilities
As a Machine
Learning Engineer at Avalara, you will:
1. Algorithm
Development: Develop
and program integrated software algorithms to structure, analyze, and leverage
data from both structured and unstructured environments.
2. Data
Analysis: Apply
knowledge of statistics, optimization, probability theory, and machine
learning for tool building, statistical analysis, and modeling.
3. Insights
& Modeling: Develop
and communicate descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive
insights/algorithms.
4. Machine
Learning Techniques: Use
techniques like decision trees, logistic regression, Bayesian analysis, NLP,
and others to improve product performance, quality, and data accuracy.
5. Coding
& Implementation:
Translate algorithms and technical specifications into code using programming
languages such as Python. Complete programming, testing, debugging, and
efficiency optimization.
6. Deep
Learning & AI: Apply
deep learning technologies to enable computers to visualize, learn, and respond
to complex situations.
7. Innovation
& Adaptation: Adapt
machine learning to areas such as Generative AI, Image Processing, and
other interactive technologies.
8. Cloud
& Distributed Systems: Work
with large-scale computing frameworks, data analysis systems, and cloud-based
modeling environments.
9. Documentation
& Maintenance: Complete
documentation and establish procedures for installation and maintenance.
10. Collaboration
& Problem Solving:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize existing solutions and
innovate new ones. Use strong problem-solving and debugging skills
to address challenges.
Qualifications & Requirements
·
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer
Science or a related field.
·
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in machine learning, NLP,
and computer vision technologies. Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow
is essential.
·
Experience with LLMs: Familiarity with LLMs like Claude,
GPT, or BARD is a plus.
·
Programming Skills: Strong foundation in programming,
particularly in Python. Knowledge of data structures, algorithms,
and object-oriented design is crucial.
·
CI/CD & Cloud Computing: Experience in CI/CD, distributed systems,
and cloud-based software is advantageous.
·
Strong Problem-Solving: Outstanding problem-solving and debugging
skills.
·
Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively, with
effective communication and a proactive attitude towards innovation.
·
Desirable Experience: Experience in classification systems,
sentiment analysis, entity extraction, computer vision, OCR, and content
extraction from images, PDFs, and HTML.
