Job Description

Position: Engineer, Software Engineering (NCG Hiring: BE 2024, C or C++)
Location: Bengaluru, India
Type: Full-time
Exemption Status: Exempt

What You Will Do

As a Software Engineer at Western Digital, you will be involved in developing firmware using C/C++ in various environments such as FPGA, Simulator, and for NAND/eHDD (Enterprise Hard Disk Drive) products. You will follow Agile methodologies and create design documents pertinent to various phases of firmware development. You will be part of a scrum team responsible for full-stack embedded firmware development for enterprise products. This includes innovation, design, implementation, and debugging of data paths, software algorithms, data structures, and drivers needed for our large and complex software environment.

Your responsibilities will also include delivering on cutting-edge storage products with interfaces like SAS, SATA, and PCIe, and working with cross-functional teams to develop HDD products. You should be self-motivated to work both unsupervised and as part of an agile team, collaborating to develop yourself and others within the group while understanding the end-to-end product lifecycle.

Qualifications
Required:

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (CS), Computer Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Electronics and Communication (EC), or equivalent.

· Minimum GPA of 8.0.

· Strong knowledge in C/C++/C#, Object-oriented programming, Data Structures, and Algorithms.

· Strong problem-solving, algorithm design, system design, and complexity analysis skills.

· Ability to rapidly learn new technologies, complex code, and develop a system view.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.

· Enthusiastic teammate with a positive, can-do attitude.

· Interest in storage technologies (HDD, Flash, non-volatile memory) that support AI, ML, Cloud, Autonomous Driving, Social Media, Streaming, E-commerce, etc.

Preferred:

· Familiarity with micro-controller architecture (ARM or ARC) and embedded systems.
