Reserve Bank of India Summer Internships 2024: Join RBI as an Intern Across India | Placement Officer

Introduction:

Interested in a prestigious internship at the heart of India's financial sector? The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) invites eligible candidates for its Summer Placement Programme across multiple RBI offices.

About the RBI:

RBI is India’s central bank responsible for regulating the Indian banking system under the ownership of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. It oversees the control, issuance, and supply of the Indian rupee.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible candidates include students pursuing post-graduate or integrated courses in various fields. Penultimate-year students of these courses can apply for the summer placement.

Students pursuing a) post-graduate courses b) Integrated five-year courses in Management / Statistics / Law / Commerce / Economics / Econometrics / Banking / Finance c) Three-year full time professional bachelor’s degree in Law from reputed Institutions / Colleges located in India. Students who are currently in the penultimate year of their course can only apply for the summer placement.

How to apply?

Eligible students should apply for summer placement through the online web-based application form from 15th October to 15th December of the previous year for internship starting from April of next year. The candidates shall ensure that they correctly mention the state in which their college/ institute is located.

About the Internship Program:

Research Internship: Offers exposure to cutting-edge research in central banking, ideal for individuals planning Ph.D. pursuits or roles in government and financial institutions requiring quantitative and analytic skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with RBI researchers on policy inputs and papers.
Assist in data compilation and analysis using analytical tools.
Transition to writing high-quality research and policy articles.

Placement Departments:

Interns will be placed in three RBI departments:

Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR)
Department of Statistics and Information Management (DSIM)
Strategic Research Unit (SRU)

Selection Criteria:

Qualifications and work experience vary based on the department. Selections occur twice a year, commencing either on 1st January or 1st July, depending on RBI’s needs.

Application Process:

Interested candidates should submit their CV, References, and Statement of Purpose via email to the relevant Research Area/Department.

Duration and Facilities:

The internship is initially for 6 months, extendable based on performance.
RBI offers a stipend of Rs. 35,000/- per month and office space with internet connectivity. Accommodation arrangements are the interns' responsibility.
