Job Description

As a Graduate Engineer Trainee at Emerson, you will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills in various areas, including patch testing, system installation, and DCS (Distributed Control System) setup. Some of the key responsibilities include:

Patch Testing

  • System Deviation Report (SDR) testing for Ovation/Ovation Add-On patches.
  • Monthly patch and weekly AV installation on Ovation test beds and performing Ovation basic.
  • Functionality testing and creation & deployment of Operating System Deployment (OSD) images.
  • Filling of bulletin files for periodic activities.

System Installation

  • Installation of Windows OS, drivers, and Microsoft patches (for Engineering Workstation).
  • Configuration of DCS setup, including hardware such as controllers and basic I/O modules.
  • Software installation and configuration of Ovation (Engineering Workstation, Base Station) and Ovation add-ons like Ovation Process Historian (OPH), OPC, and Anti-Virus.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Active participation in lab activities such as lab maintenance, hardware maintenance, and network rack planning.
  • Learning and expanding knowledge on DCS and other Emerson products like Ovation, OPH, OPC, ELC, APC, OSC, AV, TPNF, etc.
  • Referring to the Technical Guide from crossroads during project execution.
  • Continuous skill development on DCS product components.
  • Enhancing test procedures for executed assignments as required.
  • Testing Ovation releases and add-ons by following the Test Cycle-Smoke, first pass, & regression testing.
  • Regularly attending and actively participating in assigned project conference calls.
  • Maintaining product quality testing within the agreed schedule.

Advantages and Required Qualifications

Emerson offers several advantages to the Graduate Engineer Trainees. These include having a basic knowledge of the Testing life cycle, holding an ISTQB certificate at the Foundation level, familiarity with virtualization and scripting languages, knowledge of PC architecture and its network, proficiency in programming languages like C/C++/C#/.NET, understanding of process control systems, and participation in activities such as maintenance, hardware mounting, and network rack planning.

To be eligible for this position, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Basic knowledge of the Testing life cycle.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Power Engineering.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Self-motivation and the willingness to take on challenging assignments.
  • Creativity in applying knowledge to product validation and software testing.
